Answer Questions

student work

Students had to use DNA fingerprints to solve the crime.  This is an example of a student combining each separate DNA fingerprint to compare them side-by-side.

Students were required to work in teams to synthesize all of their recovered and created materials.  Each team then created their own Forensics Evidence Log:
Example #1 and Example #2

When students were finished with decoding DNA/RNA; observing fingerprints, foot prints, and various fibers; and creating their evidence log, they then had to create a final project to present their findings.  These two students decided to put together a news report:
TPACK Commentary:
Students used cell phones and iPads to take pictures of fingerprints and footprints as well as scan QR codes to find DNA sequences.  The technology used connected directly with content knowledge when they had to analyze the DNA sequences, match fingerprints, and use foot to height ratios to find the criminal.  Students in this example synthesized their data and used MovieMaker to create a news report to explain their findings.  Mrs. Suttle connected content knowledge and technology with pedagogy in having her students create a product and also engage in an authentic experience by presenting to the class.
