teacher reflection

Mrs. Suttle is pleased with how her students successfully and creatively completed their Forensics project.  She knows that the project combined many of the best elements of TIPC (based on NETS and TPACK) and pushed her students to critically think and problem solve as a team.  The project also emphasized student choice since each team was able to choose their own technological tool to report their findings.

Mrs. Suttle combined technology and pedagogy by working closely with the school ITRT and by providing work space in separate classrooms for each phase of the project.  She also worked closely with other teachers who were the suspects in the crime, bringing together her school community to help her students learn.

Mrs. Suttle also combined technology and content knowledge successfully.  She purposefully chose tools to allow her students to touch and explore crime scene evidence; evidence they would not have otherwise been able to use.

This project started as a small unit for a school observation and grew into a much larger project for the county.  In hindsight, Mrs. Suttle says she would allow more time for her students to explore forensics.  She also thinks it would be helpful to have more assistance in the classroom, possibly inviting a forensic scientist to work with her students, so she could have more time to work as a facilitator.
